Astrology: the language of the sky, illuminating your path.

Astrology reads the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets at the moment of birth. Your birth chart is not a sentence passed on your life, but a map: it reveals your gifts, challenges and the periods when particular themes come to life. At Magic Klara, I work with Vedic astrology (Jyotish) and psychological astrology.

What You Take Away

Astrology does not decide for you. It helps you make more conscious choices.

  • The birth chart: the ascendant, Moon, Sun and twelve houses.
  • Western astrology: personality, psychological patterns and relationships.
  • Vedic astrology (Jyotish): the sidereal zodiac, nakshatras (lunar mansions) and dashas (planetary periods).
  • Practical applications: decisions, relationships, work and choosing the right moment.

What is a birth chart?

A birth chart is a picture of the sky at the time and place of your birth. It is divided into twelve houses that describe areas of life: home, work, relationships, money and spirituality. The planets in these houses reveal where your energy is most active.

Western or Vedic astrology

Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which is tied to the seasons. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which is aligned with the actual stars. This is why your sign in Jyotish is often one sign earlier. It is not a mistake, simply a different system.

The planets, or grahas

The nine grahas — the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu — are forces that carry different desires and lessons in the chart. Each graha works differently in each of the twelve houses.

Timing: dashas and transits

Astrology is not only about who you are, but also about timing. Vedic dashas divide life into chapters, while transits reveal the current celestial weather, such as Saturn's Sade Sati period.

The science of light

Jyotish means “the science of light” in Sanskrit. In the Vedas, it is called the eye of the Vedas because it helps us see a path when we feel lost. It rests on the belief that our karma is connected to the positions of the planets and stars — the birth chart is therefore a map of the karma we bring into this life.

Why it differs from Western astrology

The Earth wobbles slightly as it rotates — this is called precession. As a result, the sky shifts by roughly one degree every 72 years. Vedic astrology accounts for this shift and calculates using the actual positions of the stars, while Western astrology retains the older, symbolic division. This is why your Sun sign in Jyotish is often different — and why daily newspaper horoscopes have nothing to do with this tradition.

Destiny and free will

According to the Vedas, two forces shape our future: destiny and free will. Destiny is the circumstances we encounter. Free will is how we respond to them. Every response creates new karma — so through our choices, we shape our own future circumstances. Astrology shows us the map, but we choose the path ourselves.

The four aims of life

The Vedas recognise four aims of life: dharma — living in harmony with your nature; artha — security and resources; kama — joy and desire; and moksha — inner freedom. Your birth chart helps you understand where you are on this journey and how to direct your energy towards what brings the greatest meaning.

Astrological and karmic insights are intended for self-understanding and personal reflection. They do not replace medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, nor do they determine an unchangeable future.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before we meet

What is astrology?

Astrology is an ancient system that connects the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets at birth with patterns in life. It does not predict your fate; it describes themes, potential and timing.

Which astrology is right: Western or Vedic?

Both look at the same sky through different maps. Western (tropical) astrology offers a rich description of personality, while Vedic (sidereal) astrology, or Jyotish, adds a precise timeline of life's phases.

What do I need for a birth chart?

Your date, place and time of birth, as accurately as possible. The time determines the ascendant and houses, making it the most important detail.

Is a daily horoscope astrology?

Only a very simplified form. A general horoscope considers only your Sun sign, while a personal chart takes into account all nine planets, twelve houses and your planetary periods.
