Sade Sati: Seven and a Half Years That Ask for Truth, Not Punishment
When Saturn moves through the 12th, 1st, and 2nd signs from your Moon, life forces you to slow down. Three phases, three different tasks.

Sade Sati means "seven and a half." It lasts approximately seven and a half years and occurs when Saturn transits the twelfth, first, and second signs counted from the sign of your natal Moon. It happens two to three times in a lifetime.
Three Phases, Three Tasks
Rising phase (12th sign from the Moon). What is not yours begins to leave. Losses are often quiet: a project fades, a friendship dissolves, or you lose the will to keep carrying something you have dragged along for years. The task: do not force yourself to hold on.
Peak phase (the Moon's sign). The most sensitive part. The pressure is internal—sleep, mood, a sense of being alone. The task: care for your body, establish a rhythm, and seek support. This is not a phase for proving yourself.
Setting phase (2nd sign from the Moon). Accounts are settled. Money, family, voice, values. The task: put material matters in order and say what truly matters now.
Saturn does not take things away to leave you empty. It takes away what cannot carry into the next chapter.
What Helps
- Regular sleeping and eating times—Saturn respects rhythm.
- Fewer promises, more kept.
- Writing: what you put on paper stops circling in your head.
- Service to others; Saturn is the graha, or planetary force, of work and humility.
- A conversation with someone who understands the timeline and does not frighten you.
