Alchemy
Alchemy is not simply a search for gold. It is a symbolic language of transformation: how we break down the lead within us, purify it, and turn it into something precious.

Alchemy is an ancient art practised in Egypt, Greece, the Arab world, and medieval Europe. Outwardly, it sought the philosopher’s stone, which would turn ordinary metals into gold.
Yet many alchemists knew that the true laboratory was the human being. Carl Gustav Jung showed that alchemical symbols represent the soul’s inner development.
Alchemy describes the world through four elements. Each is symbolised by a triangle.
An upward-pointing triangle. Will, passion, and transformation. Fire purifies and gives direction.
A downward-pointing triangle. Emotions, intuition, and receptivity. Water dissolves what is hardened.
An upward-pointing triangle crossed by a line. Thought, language, and connection. Air brings clarity.
A downward-pointing triangle crossed by a line. The body, matter, and stability. Earth brings everything into tangible form.
Paracelsus described three principles present in everything.
What is solid and enduring. Our physical form and habits.
What moves and connects. Our mind, flowing between worlds.
What burns and gives character. Our passion, will, and inner fire.
Alchemists assigned a metal to each planet. This is where alchemy meets astrology directly.
Perfection, the heart, and the self. The goal of the Great Work.
Reflection, emotions, and pure receptivity.
Mental fluidity and mediation between opposites.
Beauty, love, and harmony.
Strength, courage, and the capacity to act.
Expansiveness, growth, and wisdom.
Weight, time, and trials. The raw material awaiting transformation.
The Great Work unfolds in stages. Each has its own colour.
The breaking down of the old. Loss, crisis, or a dark night of the soul. Nothing is wrong; the old is simply falling apart.
Purification. After tears come peace and clarity. We see what remains true.
Awakening. Like dawn after the night. New meaning and inspiration arrive.
Wholeness. The new takes shape in everyday life. This is the gold within.
Sade Sati, Saturn’s transit over the natal Moon, is often our nigredo. When we understand it as a stage in a process, it becomes easier to move through.
Ask yourself: what is breaking down within me at this time? What is asking to be purified? The answer reveals where your gold awaits.
Alchemy reminds us that transformation is a process. Nigredo is not a mistake; it is a beginning. When we understand which stage we are in, it becomes easier to trust that the next will come.
